Music Marketing #1

 Recently, in my AICE Media studies class, my classmates and I did a music marketing research assignment. In this assignment we were assigned a genre of music and we had to pick a band or artist in that specific music field and then do a case study about them. The catch was that the band or artist had to have released music in the past 5 years. The group I was in got the the genre of rock, which included punk rock, indie rock, hard rock and etc. We had to fill in a music research chart which is shown below. 

Before I picked a company or label I was very confused because I could not find a band or artist to do, this was because I was only thinking that rock bands are all old and no one does rock music bands anymore. I realized that there are so many new modern bands that are still trendy and many people listen to them. The company/label I selected to do my assignment about was Partisan Records. The first case study that I did was about Fontaines D.C, which is an Irish post-punk band. To research the facts and information, I asked ChatGPT to give me articles about the specific categories I needed. Once it gave me all the articles, I read through them and as I was reading I was also typing all the information I needed. The second case study I did was about the band IDLES which is a British- Irish post punk band. I used the same strategy for this case study as the one about Fontaines D.C. It was great to learn about these new bands and all the methods they use to market their work. I was surprised to learn that bands like these still exist and many people actually listen to their music. This research project will help us to research about the artist/band we have to make our music video on. This way we can figure out what types of themes do they have in their content, how they make their music and the reasoning behind it all. For the Music Marketing project, we are doing the genre of punk rock as well and we are doing the song "the righteous one". On 11/19 we brainstormed, researched and picked a song. On 11/21 we created the brand identity, a storyline for the music video and a little bit of the storyboard. On 12/2 we will create the storyboard and start the stand alone presentation. On 12/4 we will get a half class and will work on the storyboard and stand alone presentation. 12/5 through the weekend is when we will film the music video using the storyboard. 12/8 is working on stand alone presentation and editing the music video. 12/10 finish editing at home and working on presentation. 12/11 is when we need to have the presentation done by and on 12/12 we will review and make whatever necessary improvements. I was assigned to do the marketing + samples and the final statement for the presentation.
