Production Post

For the CCR's, I knew I wanted to answer the questions in a simple way. I wanted to make it clear and to the point. This way my answers would be organized and the audience would understand it simply. I filmed my CCR's today and it went pretty smoothly. I got the video recorded and got everything that I need the only thing that I need to do now is edit them. The only problem that I ran into was that during the recording it started raining. So that was kind of an obstacle but that was the only main problem that I ran into. I had to wait 2 hours for the rain to stop so I can start recording and honestly I got a little frustrated but in the end everything turned out to be okay.

Final Reflection

Overall, I am really happy with how the film opening came along and how it turned out to be. In the beginning of the project my group and I were not really sure how we would manage everything and had no clue on what to even make for the film opening. We decided to do an action comedy and we wanted two characters with one being stupid and one being serious but also dumb. I think we executed the characters to perfection, the costume was exactly what we imagined, the setting and shots were also what we wanted.

A challenge that we faced was during editing, the music and sound at first was not making sense and we didnt really know what to do. This was something that was actually harder than we thought it would be. Eventually, we figured out what to do and made the sound and music fit to our project.

Overall, this project was really fun, I thoroughly filming this project with my group. The learnings that we took from this project are immense. Not just filming, editing, and shots and angles but planning, being prepared, and following a process.

CCR production Ideas

My first CCR video will be about questions 1 and 2.

Question 1: How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Question 2: How does your project engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

I have already planned my answers for these questions and you can see them in the previous blog posts.

For the first video I will have an interviewer knock on my door and interview me.

Here is my script:

Interviewer: Hi, is this your house?

Me: Yes, how can I help you

Interviewer: What do you do for a living to be able to afford a house like this?

Me: I am an actor and producer. I just finished my new movie Two Agents. Zero Clue. Releasing in theater soon.

Interviewer: Oh wow, I had no idea that I am interviewing a star.

Interviewer: Do you have a couple minutes for some questions?

Me: I have to go in about 5 minutes, so you got 5 minutes.

Interviewer: How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Me: Scripted answer

Interviewer:  How does your project engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Me: Scripted answer

Interviewer: Any advice for people who want to get up to your level?

Me: Work Hard, Manifest, Never Give Up, thats my motto.

This is my script for the first video answering two questions, I still dont know what to do for the second one but I will figure it out soon.

CCR question #4

How did you integrate technologies, software, hardware and online in this project?

In this project we used Iphones to record our film. With the advanced camera quality of the Iphone it allowed us to capture clean looking shots and quality video. It also allowed us to capture different angles such as close ups and wide shots. Research was a big part of this project, from the planning to actual production, I used google, wikipedia, Instagram, Youtube to help with camera angles and to learn the norms of comedy action films. This helped me understand what we need to incorporate to make the movie seem professional. I also used online tools to save the videos in a single place to make sure that they dont get lost and shared them with my group as well. If this was a real piece of media we would have used Social media such as Instagram and TikTok to promote it as well.

So overall, a lot of technologies were used to plan, film, edit, store and possibly even distribute.

CCR Question #3

Question 3 of our CCR's is How did your production skills develop throughout this project? In this we basically have to answer about what improved during production and what did we learn.

My skills improved throughout the project, we did not have much experience before and it took some time to get everything right. We did not have much experience with camera shots and the main thing was acting. My friend and I needed to act good to make the movie good. Improvisation on the spot was crucial and we learned to do that. Some scenes were missing somethings and we had to use our creativity to make it look perfect and good. Another skill that I improved was the Camera shots, I started to understand why camera shots are so important. They make the movie look professional and realistic. I learned how shots create intensity, emotion and tension which makes the whole film. The camera shots and angles can make movies interesting and help the audience understand what is happening. Another skill I developed was planning the story, which helped and made some of our scenes better.

Overall, I think I learned a lot during the production and these lessons are valuable.

CCR question #2

Question 2 of the CCR is How does your project engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?  In this we have to answer who is our target audience, our plan to distribute it to our target audience, and how did we engage the audience with our project.

Here is what my answer will be:

Our target audience for this film opening is mostly people of younger age, usually from the age of 15-30 years old. We picked this audience because we felt that this movie would really appeal to them and this age range usually likes these types of films. We kept the audience engaged with our characters, with one of them being stupid and one of them is serious, this really brought out the comedic sequence of our movie and kept the audience interested. The movie is also fast paced also help to keep the audience interested and on the edge of their seats.

If this was a real piece of media, we would want to distribute it through movie theaters and streaming platforms because they are very popular and distribute to a wide audience. We could also make short BTS clips to show the production and how we went about business. We would distribute also using social media such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and many more.

I am still not sure what I want to do for my videos for these questions yet but I am working on developing them.

Music Problem

Although we were aware that music would be important, we were surprised of how much it would influence the overall edit. Our first thought was to use something dramatic and strong. It didn't go well with the comedy when I put it in the opening scene. It felt weird since the music portrayed the characters non-serious actions as serious ones.

We then experimented with something silly for the sounds. Even worse, the music seemed forced, as if it were trying to tell to the audience how they should respond rather than allowing the action to speak for itself. For the clips we have, I still haven't found a good audio that I can say I enjoy. Locating the audio for this movie is truly very hard. This is made more difficult by the fact that a lot of the audio tracks that would be used in the movie's introduction are copyrighted. This has become very discouraging and appears to be a major challenge in the editing process. Positively, the edit is starting to take shape, and we will continue to work on it. The good thing is we have more time to work on it.
